We have created this page to give a more detailed picture of our newly renovated apartment and the area. The apartment is just over 100 m2 plus a patio of 50 m2, all on one level. The apartment has 6 beds divided into 3 bedrooms, 2 large double beds (180 cm) and a daybed with 2 80cm beds next to each other. 2 of the bedrooms are in a row with a common entrance but are separated by sliding doors. The apartment is fully renovated, completed January 2023, in absolute top condition and contains all amenities. Open plan living room-kitchen with a full-size kitchen with kitchen island and dishwasher. AC is available in all rooms, 58-inch smart TV with a variety of channels and chromecast, free wi-fi (fiber) etc. In addition, a separate laundry room with large washing machine. Complete inventory list here. The apartment is located in the urbanization San Juan de Capistrano, which is one of Nerja's largest and with perhaps Nerja's best pool area, optimal for families with children. See pictures under the photo gallery. It is located below the mountainside above Nerja center, walking to the nearest beach takes 20-25 minutes, 5 minutes by car. Buses run every hour and cost one euro pp., in addition, taxis are very cheap, about 8-9 Euros to central Nerja. The best option, however, is to have your own car, which is usually very cheap to rent at the airport, for example, see tips regarding car rental on FAQ. There is free parking right outside the apartment, the apartment is on the second floor of 3.. The area as such is not optimal for people with walking disabilities as it is located on a slope, there are also some stairs to the apartment and it is not handicap accessible, the walk to the pool area can be difficult on foot if you are disabled, but it is possible to drive. Within the area there are bars, cafes, restaurants and a supermarket.
The area is very child-friendly, large pool area with children's pool and playground with different sport fields about 300 m from the apartment. Pictures of the playground under pictures

Beaches
The closest beach, which is also the one with the most people, restaurants etc., is Burriana, but there are a number of beaches to explore for those interested. Keep in mind, however, that the smaller beaches between Burriana and Balcon de Europa may not warn of currents and when not to swim etc. We had an unpleasant experience on one of the small beaches when an elderly Norwegian couple had to be rescued from the water when they drifted away from the small beach.

Nerja
For those who have not been to Nerja before, it is a charming little town without any grey square buildings, the town centre consists of small cozy alleys with restaurants, bars, cafes and small shops. These lead to the famous Balcon de Europa which is the large gathering place with magnificent views of the Mediterranean. The people are a pleasant mix of tourists and locals, during July and August, which are the biggest tourist months, the tourists dominate.
Restaurants
In general, we think the food is almost always good, but generally it is less affordable the closer you get to the center, better to choose something well-stocked on a back street, you will rarely be disappointed. Some tips on my favorite restaurants, none of them expensive, 40-50 euros for 2 with a glass of wine:
Copa Vino - Located downtown, fantastic food and a variety of wines.
Bruxelles on Burriana beach, very good food and nice environment. Beef salad, Goat cheese salad or why not cheese gratinated mussels with garlic butter. Their beef fillet is also very good but their scale of how "raw" you want it differs, medium for them becomes medium rare with a "normal" scale
Pepes taberna- Spanish food, huge portions, share
Som Som delicias - Thai and Indonesian, very good
Il Covo - Italian with great food (Pinto Roma is to die for) and a singing chef. Ladys watch out, he might make you dance with him
La Posada Iberica - Meat restaurant in the city center but on a back street, the Argentine entrecote is truly fantastic. Also very affordable. Limited menu so maybe not the first choice if you have vegans etc in the company. But if you don't have that, one dish on the menu is enough
Tapas Plaza - Dutch owned restaurant on Burriana, their asian dishes are better than on most asian restaurants
Bella Roma - Best gluten-free pizza ever according to those who have tried it, nice place.
Olé & Patagonia - New acquaintance for us, Argentinian restaurant with very good meat and huge portions. There are also options for vegans and/or vegetarians. By Burriana beach
If you like Indian, we haven't eaten at a bad one so far, there are a number around the city center. Our favorites: Mum (a la carte, not the daily menu) and Pahuna by Burriana
Inour urbanization:
Rocky's - A good restaurant that runs different themes on different days, such as Tapas Tuesday, Sunday Roast. Check before, not always open.
Eat Italy - Newly opened Italian with very good food.
La Parra - Popular with many, Spanish food and pizzas
KK's - A bit hidden restaurant with regulars (English), eaten there once, burgers, that's it.
Kanema - Magnificent bar on the roof terrace, restaurant downstairs, not tried but good reviews
Pool Bar - right next to the pool, good food and also vegan options.

Climate
There is a subtropical zone in Spain and it has recently been named the Costa Tropical (Tropical Coast). This stretches from Nerja and east to Motril, a distance of about thirty kilometers. This particular area has the mildest winters in all of Europe. A prerequisite for this unique climate is the proximity to the Sierra Nevada in the north, which with its peaks over 3,400 meters high forms an effective protection against cold north winds and does not let the warm winds of the Mediterranean through. Many tropical fruits such as avocados are grown in this area. The warmest time is July-August when the temperature is usually around 30 degrees, a total of about 320 sunny days a year.

To do
Nerja offers most of what a self-respecting tourist resort offers, long beaches, a wealth of restaurants, bars etc. but there are a few things you shouldn't miss:
Caminito del Rey - If you are only going to do one excursion during your stay in Nerja, this has to be our tip. Hike on narrow paths following the rock walls with fantastic views. Check out info and pictures at
https://www.caminitodelrey.info/
Frigilliana- This fantastic little village is just 10 minutes from Nerja by car or bus and has been voted the most beautiful village in Spain on several occasions, perfect for strolling around, having lunch or just enjoying the view over a glass of local wine.
Rio Chillar, promenad Temporarily closed (Jan 2025), verify it is open before you go. See pictures and description
here
Cueva de Nerja , The caves of Nerja
Sierra Nevada - Just over an hour's drive from Nerja is Sierra Nevada, which offers outstanding skiing and beautiful landscapes.
Padel - A very nice sport that everyone can play without prior knowledge, very cheap to rent a court compared to Sweden, Club La Raqueta is a 15 minute walk from the apartment, the municipal 10 minutes tel 952520948
Granada - Near the Sierra Nevada is also Granada with the Alhambra palace, Spain's most visited monument.
A number of hiking trails start from the area where the apartment is located, very nice and of varying difficulty
